Grants Promote Livable Communities in the U.S. and Canada
The Home Depot Foundation
The Home Depot Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in the communities where company associates live and work throughout the United States and Canada. The Foundation is dedicated to creating healthy, livable communities through the integration of affordable housing built responsibly and through the preservation and restoration of community trees. The Foundation’s Affordable Housing Built Responsibly Program provides grants to organizations that help families live in homes that provide safe, healthy environments and conserve energy, water, and other natural resources. The Healthy Community Trees Program provides grants to organizations that work to incorporate trees and landscape into the community development plans of towns and cities. Support for Adult and Family Literacy Services
Dollar General Literacy Grants
The Dollar General Literacy Grants programs provide funding to literacy providers in the communities served by the company. The Adult Literacy Grants program supports nonprofit organizations that provide direct service to adults in need of literacy assistance by offering adult basic education, general education diploma preparation, or English for speakers of other languages. The Family Literacy Grants program supports family literacy service providers that offer programs for both parents and children. Eligible organizations must be located within 20 miles of a Dollar General store in the company’s 35-state market area. The application deadline for both programs is March 4, 2008. Funds for K-12 Nutrition and Fitness Programs
U.S. Potato Board: School Wellness Grant Program
The U.S. Potato Board, in partnership with the School Nutrition Foundation, has initiated the School Wellness Grant Program for elementary schools in the United States. Ten grants of $2,500 will be awarded for equipment and/or educational programs that will help move children toward healthier diets and improve their overall wellness. Grant money can be used for food service equipment for the healthful preparation of fresh or processed potatoes, physical activity equipment for use on the campus playground or during physical education programs, or development or execution of nutrition or physical activity educational programs. Applicants must be members of the School Nutrition Association (SNA) or be sponsored by an SNA member. The application deadline is April 15, 2008. Grants Encourage a More Humane Society
The Max and Anna Levinson Foundation
The Max and Anna Levinson Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that are committed to developing a more humane and rewarding society in which people have a greater ability and opportunity to determine directions for the future. The Foundation’s grantmaking focus areas are Environment, including ecosystem protection and green economic development; Social, including human rights and world peace; and Jewish/Israel, including Jewish culture and Israeli issues. Valspar Picture-It-Painted Program
The Valspar Foundation is once again partnering with the six Minnesota Initiative Foundations (MIFs) to provide free paint and coatings for community restoration or beautification projects. Projects that may qualify for a grant include historic buildings, senior citizen centers, community centers, public buildings, murals or other visual impact projects. Free Range’s Gratitude Grant Program

Through Free Range’s 2008 Gratitude Grant program, we are offering up to $15,000 worth of design and/or strategic communications services from our menu of core offerings: strategy consulting, identity design, web design, print design, and online movies.
